Barbie Brewer founded TNT Consulting, LLC when she saw a strong need for her expertise and experience across the Globe. Companies are craving innovative solutions for their people, programs and operations. They want a true partner who understands business and people and is willing to think "out of the box" but also has a strong foundational knowledge of all things Human Resources and Recruiting. The experience and ability to have learned from the past, enables CEOs and Leaders to have the confidence to implement the ideas and strategies proposed. Barbie does not believe in using the same process or methodology with all clients, but rather believes in tailoring the engagement to the needs of the business. She also tries to ensure you have the tools to succeed in the long term, but is always available for follow-up and consultation as needed.
Barbie Brewer is a seasoned Talent Leader who has seen it all. She learned early in career, while working for Start-Ups, the value of planning for growth verses letting it surprise you, while also avoiding over engineering your workforce and processes. It’s a balance that is often hard to find.
Following her work in Marketing with Start-ups, Barbie found her way to HR with IBM and Cisco, learning the fundamentals through various rotations in the Leadership Development Program, which she later managed. While Barbie did obtain an MS, in Human Resources Management, she believes her true education in the HR fundamentals occurred at Cisco, where she was given the opportunity to “problem solve” in various areas of the function, including Employee Relations (based in Germany), Global University Relations, Compensation, Legal, and Business Partnerships.
Taking some of those fundamentals back into the SMB world enabled her to teach and implement best practices while remaining innovative and strategic, preparing her for strategic leadership at Netflix. It was at Netflix where she really learned the value of a strong, deliberative culture, amazing leadership, and top talent. She also learned that innovative HR is more effective than blindly following the “best practices” of others and that one size does not fit all. With that mindset, you can avoid a bloated HR organization and instead focus in on initiatives and programs that move the business forward and make for a highly desirable workplace. Barbie not only rolled out innovative Talent programs at Netflix, she also participated actively in the business. She attended and contributed to all Product Strategy sessions, met with partners and chip manufactures overseas and actively participated in Tech Conferences with no direct, traditional connection to HR. She has a passion for technology and business and strives to find the synergy between the business goals, the customer, and the workforce.
